Conference on Optical Fibers and Their Applications is a long lasting, traditional event, organized since 1976. The purpose is summarizing the developments in the field of optical fiber technology and applications in this geographical region and worldwide. Bring together experts from different fields: academia, government laboratories, industry, telecom operators, and hardware/software vendors.
The first conference on Optical Fibers and Their Applications was organized in February 1976. Then the cycle was organized every three years. Since 1986 it was split to two sub-cycles Technology and Applications, and is organized every 18 months. The first conferences were organized in Jablonna near Warsaw in conference facilities owned by the Polish Academy of Sciences. Then the subcycles are organized in Naleczow (previously Krasnobrod) by UMCS University in Lublin and Lublin University of Technology, and in Bialowieza (now near Suprasl) by Bialystok University of Technology. Several volumes of Proc. SPIE were published from this conference series.
Bialystok University of Technology will organize the next Conference on Optical Fibers and Their Applications in 2020.
